St. Louis woman arrested after high-speed chase in NWMO

CHILLICOTHE, Mo. - The Livingston County Sheriff's Department apprehended the driver of a white colored SUV that was going over 100 miles per hour this week.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the driver, 37-year-old Stephanie Byrd of St. Louis, failed to yield to Carroll County authorities around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities say that at one point during the chase, Byrd's vehicle reached a speed of 118 miles per hour.

The pursuit eventually ended in Linn County when the SUV's engine blew out, less than a mile outside of Meadville. Byrd was taken into custody and transferred to Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail.

Byrd is now facing charges of resisting arrest detention or stop by fleeing, creating a substantial risk of serious injury or death. She has pleaded not guilty.
